Curious about graphic design? Learn to create eye catching postcards, posters, and mugs using Canva. Go beyond just pulling together random images, through developing an understanding of the relationship between color, images, and fonts. Students will use the free version of Canva to complete a series of projects, many of which can be printed for free at home.
Each class begins with a brief welcome and share before the teacher introduces the project and concepts of the day. Students will learn design technique and marketing principles. The teacher will use a slides and a screen share demonstration to facilitate a conversation with the students. Following, the instructions, students will then focus on their own designs. By the end of this course, students will have a basic understanding of graphic design, how to use common photoshop techniques, how to create printable products, and how to create digital products.
Canva contains many templates. Students will learn how to modify these templates and to create new templates. This class does not teach students how to make their own font.

About the Instructor:
Ms. Rae has been designing posters, flyers, websites, logos, and products for over two decades. She has had the pleasure of designing for others as well as for her own business. As a business, learning marketing has always been important to her.

My child wants to learn Adobe Photoshop. Is this class a good fit?
This is not a “how to use Adobe Photoshop” course. It does not use photoshop and it does not focus on removing images using the photoshop erasure tool.
What equipment do i need?
Classes are taught through Zoom. You do not need to download the Zoom app to attend. You may use a computer, table, laptop, or smartphone. If you prefer to simply call in, know that the instructor cannot see you.
We want to sign up, but we aren't sure if we'll make it on time. Is this a good fit?
