Chess Classes for kids ages 8 and up

Absolute Beginner Chess

In this class students will learn how to move pieces, how to identify check, how to identify checkmate, basic chess moves, and be introduced to special moves. No previous knowledge of chess is required.  

Beginner Chess

In this class students will learn special moves, different stages of a game, basic tactics, and the goals of opening. Students must have a solid understanding of how to move pieces and basic checkmates.  This class suitable for students who have played less than 10 games on ChessKid.com

Advanced Beginner Chess

In this class students will learn special moves, different stages of a game, and different openings. Students must have familiarity with special moves and a solid understanding of basic tactics.  This class suitable for students who have played less than 15 games on ChessKid.com

Intermediate Chess

In this class students will learn about pins, skewers, batteries, forks, and other common tactics, and further exploration into alternative openings. Students must have familiarity with special moves and different stages of the game. This class is suitable for students who have played more than 15 games on ChessKid.com or on Chess.com.

Is my child too young to learn to play Chess?

Children love games and Chess offers an opportunity for kids to develop strategic thinking skills. Our Chess program is designed to help those who are new to Chess as well as those who have tried it before but found it a bit confusing. We offer two levels based off of age and students as young as age 4 are welcome register.
